“I’ve been thinking a lot about the hiding Jews of the Holocaust.
Since the satmar Jews got busted praying together in Melbourne on pesach, defying the corona social distancing rules, it broke my heart a bit to think of the inherited trauma it must have triggered. I know they weren’t doing the right thing but a police raid on hiding, praying Jews felt a bit close to the bone.
And thus the camera work was inspired. Close quarters/hiding vibe.”
